WVTA Awards and Scholarships
WVTA Service Award
The Executive Committee voted in 1997 to award monetary Service Awards to recognize members for their outstanding service to the WVTA. Nomination for these awards is open to any member, and a member may be nominated by anyone (except the WVTA President) including a coworker, employer, etc. Nominations should be based on the nominee's service to the WVTA within the previous year. The Executive Board will review the nominations and select one or more recipients to receive an amount equal to a one year membership and registration fee for the WVTA Fall Convention and Seminars. These awards will be presented at the Annual Business Meeting at the Fall Convention. Mail nominations to: WVTA, Attn: Service Award, P.O. Box 55166, Madison, WI 53705-8966. Deadline is September 15th.
Veterinary Technician of The Year Award

The WVTA honored one of it's own with the title Veterinary Technician of the Year for the first time in 1997. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor a veterinary technician who promotes professionalism, ethical behavior, continuing education, and humane treatment of animals. The criteria for nomination for the award also include:
*Must be a member in good standing *Must be a certified veterinary technician *Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the field of veterinary technology *Must be nominated by a veterinary technician or veterinarian. To nominate someone for this award, you must write a one-page essay stating why you think this person is deserving of this award. The winner will be selected by vote of the Executive Board from among the nominees. The award will be given at the Fall Convention, and consists of a plaque and a $100.00 award. Veterinarian of the Year Award
This award was begun in 1995. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor a veterinarian who through his or her everyday acts shows support for veterinary technicians or the advancement of the veterinary technician field. The award will be decided by a vote of the Executive Committee from nominees submitted by WVTA members. Nominations must be in essay form and should include the name, address, and phone number of the member making the nomination, as well as his/her relationship to the nominee. The essay should address how the veterinarian has shown support for veterinary technicians or helped promote the field of veterinary technology. The award will consist of a wall plaque and will be presented at the Annual Business Meeting at the Fall Convention. Send nominations to: WVTA, Attn: Veterinarian of the Year, P.O.
